DMX In trough ARTNET.

Configuring the NSP.

To configure the NSP you need to turn the encoder to “Config” then push the NEXT button twice. You are now in the menu where you can see what mode the NSP are in. This is usually “MA-Net Expansion” mode. To change from “MA-Net Expansion” to “ARTNET” push the encoder and then turn it and the display will show “ARTNET DMX-Node”. Press the OK button and the display shows:

Config>MODE
MA-net. Expansion

The NSP can only use line “C“ and “D” for DMX input. To switch line C from out (O) to in (I) turn the encoder to you see the “Config” in the display. Push the OK button once and turn the encoder one click clockwise. The display now shows “Config>DMX”. Push the OK button and turn the encoder until the display shows:

Config>DMX C
(ArtNet) O/P

Push the encoder once and the cursor will now flash on the “O”. Turn the encoder to toggle between “I” (DMX in), “O” (OUT out) and “OFF”. Push the OK button when the display looks like this:

Config>DMX C
(ArtNet) I/P

The C line is now configured to use ARTNET through the IN 1 on the rear panel.
To set up the D line, repeat the process with line D. The D line always uses the IN 2 on the rear panel.

We now need to set up the Sub-Net, and port number. In this example we will set both the subnet and the port to 1.
We left the display in the above menu. Push the NEXT button once and the display will show:

Config>DMX C
Sub-Net:0 Port:0

If the numbers aren’t exactly like above, don’t worry you will change them anyway (if needed). Push the encoder once and the cursor flashes in the number in the Sub-Net. Turn the encoder until it displays 1 and press the encoder again. The cursor then moves to the port number. Turn the encoder again until the number is 1 and press the OK button.

The display should now look like this:

Config>DMX C
Sub-Net:1 Port:1

To use the D line repeat the process with “Config>DMX D” in the first line of the display. I recommend you use (at least) a different port number.

Setting up the desk.

To set up the desk go in to the “DMX Configuration” menu in “Tools”. Press the “DMX Input” button on the screen.

Push the button below “Source” until it says “ARTNET”.

Now push the area under “Configuration” to set up the Sub-Net and Port ID.
If the NSP and the desk are in the same network the screen should go in to the “ArtNet DMX-Ethernet Configuration”:

To set up the Sub-Net and port number, push in the black area after “SUBNET” and change the current subnet to 1. Do the same with the ID.
The “1:1-” under the available nodes changes to green.
The “Short Name” and “Long Name” displays the name of your NSP.

Exit the configuration menu by pressing “SAVE” in the upper right corner (not the cross).

When you exit the configuration menu the screen will look like this:

In this example we will merge the input into universe number 2. To do this, press the area under “Universe” and change the number to “2” and press “Enter”. If the black buttons looks like this:

You need to right click with your mouse (or press the EDIT hard button followed by a press) on the “Net” button. This will merge the incoming DMX into the second universe. And your buttons will now look like this:

When the desk detect an input, the “Net Merge“ button will turn from yellow to green.

To store your settings and to exit the “DMX Configuration” you need to press the “SAVE” button in the upper right corner (not the cross).
