Trigger sequences by DMX-IN

Trigger faders

1. Connect the console to the DMX in of the GMA.

2. create your sequences (it's best to place them on faders starting from lets say page 40).

3. suppose you have a sequence on fader 40.1, to assign this to the first fader of the wing you go to tools>Remote DMX-IN. Then press the store hard key followed by a button in the DMX-IN screen. Afterwards, press executor twice (which is the equivalent for the "fader" keyword) en then enter "40.1" on the GMA keypad. The command line will show something like:

STORE DMX_Btn 1 FADER 40.1

  • Now press enter and you'll see that in the DMX window a button now shows something like this:

    4. Now you have to say to which DMX channel that the function should react. You do this by pressing "Edit" followed by the same button in the DMX-in window. You'll then get a popup menu with numbers from 1 through 512. If you assign DMX address 1 on the button you can, with a default patch, use the first fader to trigger the sequence on fader 40.1

I'm not sure about this, but it might be that the "auto start" settings for the sequence should be "on", otherwise it might be that the sequence won't start.

    5. last step: set the DMX-in to "On". You do this in the tool window. Near the button "DMX-in", you'll see a button with the value "Off". If you press this button, it will change to "On".

    Trigger executors by button

This works in a similar way as the faders execpt for the assignment to the DMX-IN button. Instead of pressing the executor twice, you can do:

    STORE DMX_Btn 13 EXECUTOR 1.68

  • This will place the button on DMX button 13 (the button in the Remote DMX-IN view).

As visible in the picture, the way the sequence is triggered, depends on the function of the button (Go+, Go-, Toggle, ...). In the image, I added 2 links to executors where 1 of the buttons was a "Go" and the other was a "Toggle". Be aware, that when changing the button type, that the type isn't automatically changed in the Remote DMX-IN.

    Check for active DMX-IN

If you want to check if the DMX-in is working, you should just move some faders while watching the DMX-IN button in the tool window. Whenever the GMA detects a change in the DMX-In, you'll see a line that says something like 'Active' and when you stop moving faders it'll say something like 'Stopped'.
