Performance Optimization in grandMA 3D
There are several ways to increase the performance of grandMA 3D.

Quality dialog
Go to Settings -> Options -> Quality
Draw Gobos without Beams
If you check this box, grandMA 3D wont draw any beams only the gobo projection. This gives you some more speed but in most cases you'll need to see the beams...
Beam Length Intensity Dependent
This option seems not to have much influence on the performance.
Suppress Beams and Gobos in Edit Mode
This option can increase the performance a lot when you're not in Run mode. No beams and gobos are drawn in Edit mode. It has no influence of the performance in Run mode.
Gobo Resolution
You can play around with the Gobo Resolution to increase the performance.
Fixture Draw Type
In "Fixture Draw Type" you can select three different modes. I'll explain them here:
- Precise: the fixturebodies are drawn and you can see the movement of the fixtures - needs the most power
- Cube: instead of the fixturebody, only a simple cube is drawn - needs a lot less power
- Nothing: the fixturebodies are not drawn at all - needs even less power
Some performance examples: I have a show with 536 fixtures and intersection is only switched on for "grandMA stage"
- Precise: 10 frames per second
- Cube: 24 frames persecond
- Nothing: 26 frames per second
Intersections
Another way to increase the performance is to keep the number of intersections as low as possible. Each intersection needs power! But it's not only important to keep the number of objects with intersection low but to make sure that the objects with intersection switched on have as few triangles as possible. To switch intersection on or off go to the grid view. There is a column called light Intersection. Check or uncheck the cell for the objects where you want intersection to be turned on or off. In the grid view you can also see the number of triangles each object has.
