Tutorial: Bitmap Effects/Layout Views ***WORK IN PROGRESS, JASON WILL BE BACK TO EDIT THIS LATER SOME DAY ;-) ***

This tutorial will teach you how to create Bitmap Effects and how to apply them to your Layout Views.

Welcome to this tutorial.

This tutorial will show you how to setup and use Layout Views as well as Bitmap Effects. This tutorial assumes you already know how to patch fixtures and place them in 3d space. If you are not familiar with these concepts, please see the following tutorials: http://www.wikima.net/wiki.cgi/TutorialIndex.

For this tutorial, you should patch 100 Generic LED+ Virtual Dimmer fixtures, channel and fixture numbers 1 thru 100. You do not need to lay them out in the stage view in order for the bitmap effects to work, but it will make things easier to see if you arrange them in a quick matrix like so:

[javascript:void(0);/*1228779309080*/ ]

Create a Layout View.

For this tutorial, we will assume that our show is patched as stated above and that out fixtures are laid out in the stage view. (you do not have to use the stage view to make a layout or bitmap effect, it just makes it easier to see what you're doing.)
  1. Open a new 'Layout View' window with the 'Create a Window' menu. By default, it should look something like this:
  2. Set the grid size
    • To set the grid size, press the yellow dot in the top left hand corner of the screen, then press 'Setup'.

The setup window will look like this: l_a3d72385a127c5b97cf2b382f40b382a

On the right hand side, you will see two boxes labeled 'Rows' and 'Columns'. Set the size of your grid using these two boxes.

  1. Add your Fixtures

Select all the LED fixtures (fixtures 1 thru 200).

Press the 'Take Selection' button in the Layour Setup window.A red box will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the window; the red box is actually all of your selected fixtures stacked on top of one another waiting to be placed.
